Personal Home Assistant Nest Connection

This site describes a personal Home Assistant setup used to connect authorized Google Nest devices to Home Assistant for household monitoring and automation.

Home Assistant uses the Google Nest Smart Device Management API to access only the Nest devices and capabilities authorized during setup. Depending on the device and permissions, this may include thermostat settings and readings, camera streams, and camera or doorbell events.

The information is used to display device status and support automations configured by the household. Home Assistant runs on a computer in the home. Google services are also involved in authentication, API access, and delivery of Nest events.

This is a personal household project. It is not a public service and is not affiliated with Google.
